Adrián Liso’s Brace Sinks Sevilla as Getafe Stay Perfect in La Liga

Getafe continued their dream start to the 2025–26 La Liga season with a gritty 2–1 away win over Sevilla, thanks to a brilliant brace from Adrián Liso. The victory marks Getafe’s second straight win, placing them among the early front-runners alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Villarreal.

The visitors struck first in the 15th minute, when Liso latched onto a short corner from Luis Milla and fired a deflected shot past Sevilla keeper Ørjan Nyland. Sevilla responded just before halftime, but not in the way they intended — a teasing cross from Juanlu Sánchez was mistakenly headed into his own net by Juan Iglesias, leveling the score at 1–1.

Getafe regained the lead in the 51st minute, with Liso once again combining with Milla to slot a low shot into the bottom corner. Despite Sevilla dominating possession with 72%, they struggled to convert chances. Isaac Romero hit the woodwork, and Akor Adams was denied late on by a sharp save from Getafe goalkeeper David Soria.

Adrián Liso celebrates his match-winning brace that lifted Getafe to fourth in the La Liga standings.

Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda, still searching for his first win, admitted his side lacked sharpness in the final third. “We’re building something new, but we need to be more clinical,” he said post-match. Almeyda’s tenure has now begun with two consecutive defeats.

Getafe’s coach José Bordalás praised his team’s discipline and resilience. “We knew Sevilla would dominate the ball, but we stayed compact and took our chances,” he said. Liso, who now has three goals in two games, is quickly emerging as one of La Liga’s breakout stars.

With this result, Getafe climb to fourth in the table, while Sevilla sink toward the bottom, still winless after two rounds. The pressure is mounting in Seville, but Getafe fans have every reason to dream.
