Walking on a dark, lonely street, I was engaged in my ownthoughts….weaving dreams of the future…when suddenly round the corner….saw ayoung girl shouting on the top of her voice…she was abusing someone…and surprisingly the person standing in front of her was laughing hysterically….Athought crossed over…should I help? But what would be the consequences? To myrelief….the man just turned and started going in the opposite direction…Irushed to the girl and asked politely whether she needed some help….
Does this incident rings a bell? Well….I am sure it does…weencounter these incidents everyday….the magnitude differs although…someonepassing a lewd remark on the road…someone trying to touch at wrongplaces…someone stalking a girl…but what do we do? We just write a blog…talkabout it in the family….make it a gossip topic…and nothing else! We are tooscared of the consequences…after all who would want to help and get involvedunnecessarily! And I guess…this is why these incidents are rising on a dailybasis… pick a newspaper or read an e-paper….you get to read such horrifyingtales that you wouldn't want to live in this very society!
But what if someday we become the victim? What if someonedecided to make us suffer just because we didn’t speak in the past? What, what,and what?
Too many question and very few answers…
